About

My love of yoga started during college when my mom invited me to join her for a vinyasa class at her gym. From that first class, I was hooked. The stretching and bending paired with mindful awareness plus strength building and sweat! It was a combination I have yet to find a match for.
After university, I moved to Kenya to a village where no yoga classes were offered. While my practice was not as regular as it had been before, the self-discovery I experienced while living in a new culture as an outsider made for very powerful solo practice. My personal practice continued when I moved to Kampala as my stipend did not accommodate yoga classes.
When I finally got a paying job, I was able to start practice with Helle Thompson who has been a great mentor and inspiration to me. Her classes encouraged me to be the best I can be, to explore my inner self, and to spread the love and understanding cultivated through yoga practice to the world. As my practice advanced, becoming a yoga teacher myself became a priority in my life.
Lucky for me, my partner also saw the important role yoga played in my life and helped me realize that goal far sooner than I ever thought possible. As I was leaving for grad school in the UK in the fall of 2010, he encouraged me to quit my job early in order to go for a yoga teacher training certification in India.
At the Ayurveda Retreat outside of Coonoor, I received incredible training from brothers Ganesh and Shentil. They not only taught me anatomy and Sanskrit, but also the gifts of patience and perseverance. My six weeks as their pupil were some of the most dynamic of my life – learning more about myself and yoga and experiencing great changes in my abilities on the mat.

I have since took another 200 hour teacher training with the Africa Yoga Project in Kenya and completed 100 hours of teacher training in the Kaivalya Yoga Method in New York City.
I am in Uganda using my passion and training to teach others about the many benefits and joys that come from practicing yoga. If you are in the Kampala area, I hope you will join me.
